How to Turn Around Habitual Irritation....

Thought I'd share this:

Get to the heart of it. What are you really mad about? If you dig deep, you’ll realize it probably isn’t about a stapler — or dirty socks on the floor, or an empty milk carton in the refrigerator, or any of the other small things that make you so frustrated.

Tune in to anger clues. Become aware of the actions and feelings associated with your irritation. When you’re enraged, do you ball your hands into fists? Pace around the room? Grumble, swear, or grit your teeth? As you identify and experience each physiological response, make a mindful effort to do something — anything — else.

Visualize peace. Try this technique to stop rising anger before it overtakes you. Imagine your breath as a wave, a surge of color, or even a breeze. Watch it come in and out; optimally each breath will be deep and quiet. Hear yourself speaking calmly and softly to yourself and to others. Your anger reflex should diminish another degree each time you do this imaging.

My Awesome Mom's response to an opinion letter I mailed to Anna's ballet teacher

"Laura, I think you answered your own dilemma; have a ballet class that teaches the fundamentals, and only take children that have been rejected in typical classes that are not understanding of spirtied children.
Give out your stickers to these children and channel your energy into change... Just as Obama has done, make change!
All my Love,
p.s. Tell my baby I have a book of stickers for her and the rest of the unconcerned world to KMA"

Run free from the green line!!!

I'm sharing this, b/c my sweet southern gal, Amanda is so right on. Thanks for helping me put things in perspective..and I agree, hon!

"Just saw Anna's video. Funny! But poor thing. This is something I struggle with for Charlie too... do we really want to squelch the excitement, curiousity and general love of life that our kids have??? No way!!! Run free Anna Lee! Run free from the green line!!!"

Anna in Trouble....

So, at first, she's ignoring the directions to do the exercises, and she's taking the Cinderella stickers that the teacher had to mark where all the girls stand...b/c stickers are for wearing, not for the gym floor, right?!

Then, as you can see....when she is asked to go to the green line, she tests the teacher by running on the green lines that are in a circle and throughout the rest of the gym. I know that almost three year olds are not disciplined enough for ballet, but at least she could leave Eva out of her shenanigans!

Fore more photos and more video, feel free to check

AnnaLee(na) Ballerina

So, at our friend's birthday party last Saturday, another Mom told me about a Pre-Ballet class her local community center was having and how we should look into it! My friend, Dawn & I have been looking for just this type of class for over a year now, and man was I excited to get home and look it up and register Anna Lee in one of the last two spots available for this session.
Of course, we went shopping for her very first leotard, tights and can you get over those teensy capezios? The tutu she already had here and wanted to dance around before we left for class.
Oh, yes...class...that is a whole separate blog post....and once I can figure out how to post the video, I will....but, my sweet precious girl had a very hard time following the rules of staying on the "green line" and listening to the teacher. It was way more appealing to run around the gym and taunt the teacher while the other little girls did their thing. AnnaLee(na) spent most of our first class in time-out, and I left feeling sad for her, really....but, hopefully by the recital she'll get the jist of the green line....and maybe even a demi-plie, if I'm lucky.

Thanks, Anastasia and Drizella

Thanks to Cinderella, Anna Lee is now using the word, stupid. When she started saying it, I was so bummed out, thinking one of the two of us might have slipped ...but, we don't really use that word when describing anything...and I, personally loathe that word....and then I heard one of those nasty step-sisters using it.
On a positive note, I'm in an amazing place right now. Just feeling love in all different aspects of my life. Now, if I can just redirect that hideous word comin' out of Anna's mouth....
