Just a spoonful of sugar...

I was trying to think of a way to convince Anna Lee to eat blueberries with us this afternoon. Since she loves sugar as much as I do, I thought a scone would be the perfect way to try!

We were really excited to begin, and even more thrilled that the recipe called for equal parts of everything so that we each had our OWN turn.

We had a delicious treat this afternoon, and I'm bummed I didn't take the photograph of Anna Lee's plate. There wasn't a single crumb of scone left, only blueberries.

The Great Pillow Pet Acquisition

So, since all of the ads around Christmas, Anna Lee had been asking us for a Pillow Pet.
So, we saw this as a perfect opportunity to reintroduce her responsiblity chart so that she might actually take that seriously, first...and secondly learn all about delayed gratification and the joy of spending your earnings on something you really desire.
We are really proud of her, and when she and I counted up the money yesterday, her squeal almost made me cry. So, we patiently waited for Shelby to wake up and we went down to Bartells to complete our mission.

Hot fun in the summertime?

As a Southern woman, I know some heat. Two weeks ago, I was complaining about wearing sweatshirts in summer, and NOW I'm complaining about the 90+ degree heat.
Complain. Complain. Complain.
My negative attitude OF COURSE is spreading the yucky vibes to my kids, and instead of eating frozen popscicles or running in the sprinkler, or heading to the pool...we're whining about being sticky, and how the rule is two books off the shelf at a time (instead of say, the entire row that they could miraculously take willingly off of the shelf to their playroom, but need HELP - insert whine/cry- taking them back)....and dealing with allergies and runny noses and snot on our clothes..
Endless snot. Endless sticky.
But, then when my sweet DH gets home, he once again reminds all three of his ladies that it's only temporary, and we play My Little Ponies, water our garden, eat lettuce on taco salad from our garden and all is well again.

Approximately 90 and a few days ago, I got a call that was life changing. Imagine something you've prayed about your whole life finally happening.
If you've ever heard the phrase, "The Lord works in mysterious ways," my hope is that you too may experience what that truly means.
Somehow a radio ministry, led by one of the most moving Pastors I've ever listened to in my life made his way into my Dad's heart, and has forever since changed my heart.
I have recently begun to press in and rebuild my own relationship with God. I am constantly baffled at how he speaks when we listen, and how He listens when we speak.
I am honored to have friends of all colors, shapes & sizes from all over the globe. I am blessed with an amazing husband, two daughters and family.
I will use this blog from now on in my own voice, from my own transformed heart, regardless of what people may think, b/c this is for me.
I am strong, and can do anything through Christ who strengthens me. And, so can you.
